First of all sorry for the bad joke, I just had to… But this may be the most underrated guys of 2008 for me. I’ve been in love with their blend of aussie sounds and the french-inspired house sounds. I’ve been massively in love with their remix of Disco Sirens, and thanks to Redthreat I’ve now been hooked up with some new sounds from Calling In Sick. I guess new is a bit of an overstatement since the track has been around since early 2008, but hey, that doesn’t really change anything does it? There’s slap bass Justice-style, and there’s plenty of distorted synths and more melodic ones too for the rest of us. Check it out below, it’s ace stuff! Declare your love on Myspace
Calling In Sick – Cali Games
When the amount of electronic producers and dj’s increase it also becomes increasingly hard for the ones who really have something interesting to share to break through. But when they do, we just have to step back and watch them grow into blogosphere-stardom. I wont pretend I jumped onto Disco Villains as soon as my favourite Biscuits expressed their love for them, but I’ve been watching what they’ve been up to lately, and it seems that they just get better and better. Of course, a nice way to get some attention in the blogosphere is to remix Justice, and that’s exactly what Disco Villains have done. Not to say that they’re just taking the easy way to fame, because they deserve every single bit of praise that they get. Here’s the Justice remix and their remix of The Faint is equally great and available just below.

They’re of course on Myspace, so be sure to add them as a friend to find out what they’re up to.
Synth pop has never been one of my absolute favourite genres, but there still are a few top-notch synth bands out there who keep on amazing me. Cut Copy blew me away earlier this year, and now I’ve found a new synth-oriented favourite. They’re called Hey Champ! and they’re sailing out from Chicago to conquer the world. Their music is brilliant, but it wasn’t really what grabbed me at first. I found a video of them covering Justice’s Let There Be Light, and that was unbelievably sweet. Check it out below and be sure to stop by their Myspace too
So, my birthday is tomorrow, and that always tend to make me a bit nostalgic. I’ve been browsing around the chaotic world of blogs for some time now and I have expanded my musical horizon in ways I would never had thought possible. But sometimes it’s good to return back home to something safe and something well-known, and in this case, the thing I’m going back to is Van She’s amazing catalogue of remixes.
I was reading Ohh! Crapp… yesterday and I came across their latest work on Walter Meego’s Forever which once again gave me faith in Van She’s remixing abilities. I mean, how many remixers have been consistently good for a longer period of time? Justice have made a few gems and bangers and have become massively popular, but Van She never really got the praise they deserved in my opinion. And yes, they have failed a couple of times, but the general level of awesomeness in the Van She camp is just unbelievable.
Here are a two of my favourite Van She Tech remixes, and though you probably already have played the shit out of these, a trip down memory lane is always pleasant.

Annie Mac has been spreading the word on what’s cool for some years now, and besides playing some great stuff on the radio once in a while, she has now put out a mixtape for the rest of us to find some new and cool artists. Although I don’t really know how fresh these tracks are, they sure are awesome! So grab this one, and if you’re lucky enough to live in the UK you might even catch Anne playing some of her favourite tunes live.

I think I’ve heard some pretty heavy stuff occasionally, but this has to take the prize. This isn’t Justice-distorted or even SebastiAn-distorted, this is just face-melting. Oldschoolreunion takes things out where they don’t make sense any more and then makes them so irresistibly amazing that I can’t figure out where to start. I heard them a while ago, was blown away, but maybe not as much as I was today when I listened to their remix of Late of The Pier’s VW, provided by Check the Availability. This track is messed up, but in such a good way. Oh and there are sirens too. What more could you want?
