Russ Chimes is just magic

I can’t stress this enough, Russ Chimes is just magic when it comes to remixes. I’ve been listening to his Chromeo remix so many times it’s ridiculous, and naturally I was excited when I heard his remix of The Outrunners’ These Girls Are Dressed To Kill. And I love it. It’s incredible how he manages to include fast paced elements and still maintain an overall relaxed vibe. I don’t know how Russ Chimes keeps on amazing me with his remixes, but this one certainly is an absolute must. Big thanks to Get Weird for making this available!

From Bake Sale to Bank Sale

Have you heard about the economic crisis? Yeah, I thought so too. So how do you try to turn this whole thing into something a bit more positive? I guess you release more excellent music. And that’s exactly what Logarhythmik has done here, by reworking the Cool Kids’ great EP The Bake Sale and creating the Bank Sale EP and perhaps throwing the greatest cover of the year out there. The EP comes loaded with a message about change, and it’s not a coincidence that Logarhythmik wanted this to hit the internet before the election. The beauty of this is that it’s all free, and although Logarhythmik hasn’t cleared his samples with the Cool Kids, he states that he hopes they can solve it out to get out their message about change.

The EP is available for download at Logarhythmik’s blog where there’s also a nice PayPal link if you want to give the guy a little financial help. Of course you can still go find him or The Cool Kids on Myspace.

My new passion for Disco Villains

When the amount of electronic producers and dj’s increase it also becomes increasingly hard for the ones who really have something interesting to share to break through. But when they do, we just have to step back and watch them grow into blogosphere-stardom. I wont pretend I jumped onto Disco Villains as soon as my favourite Biscuits expressed their love for them, but I’ve been watching what they’ve been up to lately, and it seems that they just get better and better. Of course, a nice way to get some attention in the blogosphere is to remix Justice, and that’s exactly what Disco Villains have done. Not to say that they’re just taking the easy way to fame, because they deserve every single bit of praise that they get. Here’s the Justice remix and their remix of The Faint is equally great and available just below.

Justice vs Simian – We Are Your Friends (Disco Villains Remix)

The Faint – The Geeks Were Right (Disco Villains Re-Edit)

They’re of course on Myspace, so be sure to add them as a friend to find out what they’re up to.

Wow, the Horrors are good at remixing

I’ve been really fascinated by the Horrors for a long time (I even shot that pic above), and though their horrorish punk makes me freak out a bit, I still think Strange House is an excellent album and I’m eager to hear something new from them. But right now it doesn’t really seem like there’s something new on the way, so I guess we’ll have to look for something different until then. And fortunately, there really is some excellent Horrors-related stuff around! The always fresh Ohh! Crapp… posted this Horrors remix of The Charlatan’s The Misbegotten, and it’s quality stuff! We aren’t facing something classic Horrors here, the remix is more aussie sounding with synths and even draws some inspiration from more minimal stuff.

The Charlatans – The Misbegotten (The Horrors Remix)

The Charlatans and The Horrors are of course available on Myspace, so don’t hesitate to give them some sweet internet love!

Absolute Randomness Part 3

Hi again! Once again, I’ve been searching around my computer for some more tracks to keep you entertained, and fortunately I’ve found some! I hope you’ll enjoy these as much as I do.

Crystal Castles – Tue
I’ve listened to the Crystal Castles album so many time it’s unbelievable, and recently I’ve been digging into their demos, and damn there are some pretty sweet ones. This is classic Crystal Castles, but I still love their raw sound!

Turboweekend – Glowing Visions
Today brings yet another local Danish band that I really dig. These guys are on tour in the states right now, and I hope they manage to make some contacts and get their music out. This track is really amazing, and if you get the chance be sure to pick up their album Night Shift

Will Smith – Prince of Bel Air (Starters Remix)
I’m going to be honest about this one. I don’t really like Will Smith… But when Starters fire this up, things really take off. I like it!

Absolute Randomness Part 1

Unfortunately I’m without internet access from Tuesday to Friday this week, but I figured out that I wouldn’t want to let you down. Therefore I’m delivering four completely random posts with some completely random tracks inside that I just never found the time to post. So these posts basically consists of the tracks that I have fallen in love with lately, but just haven’t found the time to share with you yet. But here they are:

The Whip – Divebomb (Crystal Castles Remix)
You probably already have this, but I’m going to post it just because I keep on being amazed by Ethan Kath’s remixes. This man can’t do anything wrong!

Albertslund Terror Korps – Albertslund Terror Hvad
This is truly random and apocalyptic, but great nevertheless. I won’t try to explain what this is about with the Danish lyrics and everything, just lean back (or go nuts if you like) and enjoy this crazy track

Lo-Fi-Fnk – Want U
This is actually still kinda relevant… The new single from Lo-Fi-Fnk is absolutely brilliant, so do yourself a massive favour and check it out. You won’t regret it.

Small get a James Braun brush-up

When Small released their debut album earlier this year, it was hard not to be amazed by the naive synth melodies and kinda dramatic sound the local heroes had found and Sunshine Lover was in heavy rotation on my stereo. Now James Braun, who released his excellent dubstep-inspired reworks of some of Veto’s newest tracks in April, has decided to whip out something new for Small by remixing Sunshine Lover. The remix drastically changes Small’s signature sound into something way more club-friendly and dark. The vocals sound more schizophrenic now than ever and even though I’m not the biggest fan of minimalism in electronic music, I really enjoy this cut. Big props to some of my other local heroes from Data Sapiens for making this available.

Small and James Braun are killing it on Myspace too.
