Radiohead have decided to give the remix another go by giving people access to the stems of my personal In Rainbows favourite Reckoner, after the Nude remix contest became such a massive success. So far the Diplo remix is all over, and of course pretty great, but I think the newly released Rune RK remix is far superior. Rune RK is perhaps most well known for making part of the clubbing world go absolutely nuts with his track Calabria, but this is something completely different. The feel is much more relaxed, but also manages to twist the feel of the song a little while not moving too far away from the original and providing a sound somewhat close to The Field.

Don Rimini mixes up Jay Z
September 29, 2008 · 1 Comment
I’ve been a fan of Don Rimini since he asked for permission to backup, but I didn’t see this coming. A while ago Jay Z and Kanye West did a little song together, at one of Kanye’s shows. Don Rimini sees this and raises with a mindblowing remix. It’s classic Don R. style; the tempo’s turned up and the beats more focused and tight than the usual hiphop jam, but he doesn’t deny his hiphoppy roots either. Kudos, Don Rimini!

Awesome new mix from La Grève Générale
September 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment
I was browsing around some blogs, when I grabbed this mix on Stockholm Beat Connection and holy crap, it’s sooo good. I must admit I was amazed just by looking at the tracklist. I mean, anything that includes Michael Jackson, Cut Copy, Kate Bush, Kid Sister and The Clash in one mix has got to be amazing, but this is just unbelievable. The mix is created by french electroclashers La Grève Générale and is apparently named after Tech-Noir a club in the Terminator movies. Can this thing get more messed up? I don’t think so, and to be honest it’s not that important either. It’s just a great mix!!

A bit of Faux Fox for Sunday
September 28, 2008 · 1 Comment
It’s Sunday once again, and what’s more appropriate for a nice Sunday afternoon than some good music? This time, I’m going to post a track that may seem a bit random, but I’ve been really fascinated by it after picking it up at Electrorash. Faux Fox is normally a pretty straight-forward rockband with some indie tendencies, but when Neon Coyote (notice all the animals in this) start remixing, we’re facing something along the lines of an indie/dance party. The synths are put up front and the vocals really step into character and carry the tune with some desperate lyrics on top of the offbeat hi-hat.

Mondkopf gets signed to Fool’s House
September 27, 2008 · 1 Comment
The French electro scene has been spitting out amazing new artist for an incredible amount of time by now. It seems a bit unlikely that they’ll keep on being great as they have been in the past, but apparently there’s still plenty of fresh talent left in France. The latest thing to get some creds around the blogosphere is Mondkopf, a young guy making some really extreme electro tunes in the classic French style, but still with a new twist. Mondkopf has just been signed to fluokids’ new label Fool House, and has an EP coming out on October 4th featuring the absolutely banging track Sainte. Oh, and if you check out his Myspace you’ll notice that the guy namedrops some pretty cool sources of inspiration in his Top Friends.

Designer Drugs spice up Little Boots
September 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment
This has almost been blogged to death, but I still think it’s possible to squeeze out the last drops of awesomeness from this banger. The “80’s Coke Jam” thing is really appropriate here, there are some really serious retro elements floating around, but don’t worry, this doesn’t make it as cheesy as it may sound. The mix is really intense and upbeat, and you don’t get much rest during the three minutes of action, but then again, who wants that when Designer Drugs are around?

Kid Sister releases Family Reunion
September 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment
I guess my love for Fool’s Gold has been exposed heavily over the last couple of days, but just when you thought they had no more great stuff to keep us entertained with, they release some more. This time it’s Kid Sister who let’s us listen to her new song Family Reunion taken from her upcoming album Dream Date. The track is produced by Diplo, features David Banner and besides providing some fresh new rapped lines from Kid Sister, we also get to hear her do a little singing. If you weren’t already excited about her album, this will sure change you mind.

Sammy Bananas takes on Europe
September 25, 2008 · 1 Comment
I’ve just expressed my excitement about the new Fool’s Gold compilation for Scion and then this thing drops. Sammy Bananas, who is of course signed to Fool’s Gold, is now heading to Europe for some exclusive dates around the continent. But if you don’t live in Norway, Finland or around a couple of major UK cities don’t worry; Sammy Bananas will still take care of you! To celebrate his journey to Europe he has just dropped a new free and pretty hot mix on the Fool’s Gold blog, featuring some pretty exclusive tracks. That sounds nice, doesn’t it? The man has also been busy creating a new 12″ which drops digitally and on wax today, so that might be a nice addition to your collection. I still wonder how long it will take before Chiquita starts getting pissed about Sammy’s graphics.
